Welcome Amber Walker, my Sister in Christ who shares her passion for Jesus whenever she can — in between supporting her husband-minister, loving her two young kids, and sharing life with her dearest friends.

When I hear the words “body image,” I don’t get all warm and fuzzy inside. As a matter of fact, I sort of cringe. Well, at least, I used to.

…..

Growing up, I was an athlete and played Division 1 Softball in college. Working out was a part of life.

…..

With weight being something that fluctuates, the way I previously viewed myself would seesaw as well. From high school throughout college I would go on extreme calorie counting diets. Don’t get me wrong; it “worked well,” but it wasn’t a way that was sustainable for my lifestyle.

…..

Now as of mother of two beautiful babies, I’ve learned to love the body God has given me. The Lord has taught me it’s not about size, but it’s about being healthy.

…..

Being healthy isn’t eating whatever I want when I want. Being healthy is about making food choices that give life.

…..

As a believer, I know my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and it is my duty to treat it as such. I have learned that putting “whatever” in it doesn’t make me feel good. I believe I can be a better vessel for the Lord when I’m not full of things that slow me down, but full of things that spur me on to the abundant life Jesus has promised all of creation.

…..

When illegitimate thoughts of body image attempt and enter my mind, I rest in knowing that I’m a walking mirror reflecting the Almighty God in heaven.

…..

HE IS MINE AND I AM HIS.
